Welcome to my website. I hope you will feel right at home and contact me personally if I can help in any way!
Destiny is our media center patron access software. You will find a link on this webpage for Destiny and more helpful information below! To see all our ebook holdings, type "ebook" in the search field and click enter! You should see over 1,400 titles of all types and reading levels. You can also narrow your search in various ways to find exactly what you are looking for. Many other online resources are also linked on this website for your convenience.
I am looking forward to working with my three classes of students preparing for the Battle of the Books in the spring. As always, we will be reading the Sunshine State Young Readers Award books for grades 6-8. The complete list can be found at the bottom of the page.
Our Media Center programming for 2015-16 can be found here as well. Our first Scholastic Book Fair will be held in October. I know you are as excited as I am! I also hope to facilitate The Global Read Aloud that month with any students who wish to participate. We will be reading "Fish in a Tree" by Lynda Mullaly Hunt and connecting with other students, potentially around the world, to discuss this wonderful book. Students will also be encouraged to be "Divergent" this year by reading books in every genre. Those who do will be recognized at the end-of-the-year award ceremonies as reading leaders. Throughout the year, teachers and students will sponsor Retro Read-a-thons engaging our DMS family in fun reading challenges! I hope you will encourage your family to join us in all these activities!
"Kids have the best ideas!" This truth will be lived out as students who love reading step up as leaders and find their voice to be a part of my ARSAC committee this year. It is a student advisory committee which will help me plan and facilitate our media programming, including our book fairs!
Finally, I hope you will stay in touch as you read and comment on our three blogs: ARDENT, Only the Best @ DMS, and The Battle of the Books.  Ardent means passionate. We are passionate about communicating with our DMS family! The Ardent Media Center blog shares resources, help and happenings around DMS with our readers. Only the Best @ DMS is new this year. It is a true online journal inviting posts and discussion about all our wonderful new initiatives including Choosing Excellence and the 1:1 Chromebook technology at DMS. The Battle of the Books blog is the place my BOB students will discuss the SSYRA books with their classmates and other BOB participants.  Find the links to these blogs on the right side of this page and on the Destiny homepage! They are also easy to use on your mobile devices!
I know this will be a phenomenal year!
