School Counselors

Kiersten Mears, School Counselor

7th Grade A-L & 8th Grade

Hello! My name is Kiersten Mears, and I am the school counselor for 7th grade students with last names A-L and all of 8th grade. This is my second year as a school counselor, and I truly love getting to support each student in whatever way they need!

I am originally from Homewood, Illinois and graduated from Millikin University with a degree in Instructional Development. After working as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom, I realized how much I enjoyed helping students and decided to pursue school counseling. That led me to FGCU, where I completed my master's degree and now, I'm proud to call Cape Coral home!

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my two cats. I love going to the beach and hunting for fun shells. I grew up dancing for 18 years and was part of both my high school and college dance teams. In college, I was also a member of Tri Delta, where I served as social chair and philanthropy chair.

I'm really looking forward to another great year here at Diplomat Middle and to building strong connections with our students and families. Please do not hesitate to reach out, I'm always here to support you! 🙂

Diandra Demetropoulos, School Counselor

6th Grade & 7th Grade M-Z

Miss Demetropoulos (or Miss D) was born and raised in the little state of Rhode Island. She moved to Cleveland, Ohio when she was 18. Miss D graduated from Lake Erie College with her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. She then attended Cleveland State University where she received her Masters of Education in School Counseling.

Over the past ten years, Miss D has worked in many student-facing roles, including behavior therapist, special education paraprofessional, substitute teacher and tutor. After finishing graduate school, she moved to Florida to start her career as a School Counselor at Diplomat Middle School. Her approach as a school counselor is grounded in empathy, empowerment and advocacy.

When she is not helping students, she enjoys traveling, watching the Cleveland Browns (well trying to enjoy it) and spending time with her kitten, Booth.
